The kennel is located at about 10,000 feet above sea level. This location is perfect for dogsledding because we get lots of snow and beautiful mountain views. The dogs thrive in this chilly weather, but us humans need to bundle up! We suggest dressing like you would for a day on the slopes.

We recommend dressing in layers so that you can adjust for changing temperatures.

Picture

  • A base layer that wicks perspiration away from your skin. Good options are capilene or polypropylene. Wool or cotton are not good options, as they are poor wicking materials.
  • A second layer that provides insulation like fleece, synchilla, wool or pile.
  • A third layer that offers wind protection and isn't very breathable, like gortex.
  • A fourth layer that offers extra insulation, like a down parka or thinsulate snow pants.
